Who I am:
My name is Zachary Lace Williamson, and I’m the owner and blogger-in-chief at IZation Labs. This is the second website I have owned and operated, the successor to buckeyeboys.net, which is no longer active. In my free time I write articles about technology for the site, dabble in electrical engineering and computer science projects, and improve my 3D modeling skills.
My interests include technology of any form, old and new. It is my belief that technology can easily make or break a person, a community, or even the entire planet. By staying on top of the newest developments, we find ourselves more capable of understanding the ever evolving world around us. Plus, technology is just really, really, cool.
That’s why I enjoy talking students about technology so much. Kids are so willing to learn, a lot of them absorb information like a sponge, and some are undoubtedly being under utilized and ignored in their high schools. But give them something interesting and they hold on to it. That connection could lead to greater things after primary school. Things ranging from the choice to go to college to considering a full blown career in engineering or other technology related fields! Remember, young folks really are going to be the future!
College-Now, a program that helped me to obtain my associates degree in engineering in less than two years at the same time as I was graduating from high school, is what really spawned this site. This school helped me gain the reasoning and learning skills I needed to make it in the world as well as a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering, and make it I shall. Our stamina, open mind, and eagerness to learn is what sets people like those emerging from the program apart from the rest, making us great candidates for any job. I don’t pretend to know everything. Trying to know everything would be insane, as everything is constantly changing before our eyes. I know a little about a lot of things, with some special-IZations here and there, and there isn’t anything wrong with that. The reasons for my motivation and inspiration can be summed up by one statement that I strongly believe in:
Normal is a failure of potential.
Normal is exactly what I hope to never be. Fitting in with the crowd? No thank you. Normal is sitting back and blending in. Wierd, crazy, interesting, truely unique, that’s what I strive for.
My general skills include
- A solid understanding of many things digital and electrical, supported and augmented by an associates degree in Electromechanical Engineering.
- Acting and Public Speaking
Acting, be it voice, on stage, or for film, can be very fulfilling and freeing. I enjoy writing creative short stories and amateur film scripts, for the simple fact that I can create a world all my own, that I can influence as I see fit. I can show the world through my own or my character’s eyes, in ways that people might never have thought of before. With good vocal control and some kind of visual medium to go along with it, you can become someone else entirely, nearly loosing yourself in your new character and his or her personality.
Public speaking I enjoy as well. As I mentioned above, I like speaking to 7th through 12th grade students the most, as they are at a stage in life where they are willing to listen intently if you can catch their interest!
- Data Location (Ask me a question, and I can probably find you an answer.)
I’ve always said that anyone’s IQ has the potential to spike by nearly immeasurable amounts when given a computer and internet access, myself included.
- Multimedia development, including 3D modeling, filming, and editing.
Just like acting and creative writing, working with other forms of multimedia can be extremely rewarding. 3D modeling gives me a chance to develop entire worlds that are straight out of my imagination. Combining them with live action film can make the impossible seem completely realistic. It’s like they always say, anything can happen on the big screen. Plus, it’s fun!
If you want to get in contact with me to ask about speaking to students about College-Now or technology in and around North Central Ohio, possible job prospects, or to just chat, please drop me a line via the contact script, the link to which is at the top of this page, labeled ‘Contact us!’
